What is Our Dream?

Happy Easter!

All of life is peaking out like brilliant little buds, beckoned to blossom by the sun. Energy is in the air.  It is a glorious time for dreaming!

The Builder and I LOVE to dream!  Dreaming is definitely part of our practice.  The Builder is expert at reminding me when to stay in dreaming mode, rather than moving to practicalities and action.

In our personal nest-building process, we love to move quickly from “What is Our Truth?” to “What is Our Dream?”

Dreaming allows us to set aside boundaries and reach into our hearts.  Dreaming helps us discover the landscape of our inner worlds and traverse the complexities of our soul with freedom and hope.  We can dream because of Easter.

Dreaming is an inspired way to unlock the door of ideal.

Because we are big proponents of dreaming, over the past 6 weeks, I asked myself a dreaming question aligned with Lent.  The question is, “What is dead in you and coming back to life?”  or “What is being resurrected?”

I know it might seem like a funny question, too abstract, or “who has time for that?”  But bear with me.

For me, I have a new sense of soul work coming alive in me.  I’ve always been a spiritual person. I’ve always been a part of a religious community.  But, I think something new is springing forth! A new dream.

I am dreaming of soul work that doesn’t just give me more things to do.  I am dreaming of soul work that is spacious, expansive, and trusting, in both solitude and community.  I am dreaming of soul work that is courageously helping me connect my inner and outer worlds.  I am dreaming of soul work that allows me to connect in a loving and supportive way to myself and others, even if they aren’t like me.  I am dreaming of soul work that opens up instead of shuts down, as it asks powerful questions.

I realize it is vulnerable to share my journey with you.  I am not the expert; I am the learner.

But, it is powerfully growing in me.

I am exploring the idea that our soul work holds the key to supporting us as parents and educators who serve children.

How can I lead my home, school, charity, and Learn Forward to hold a sacred space for parents, educators, and children to do their own soul work within the context of education?  Education in the broadest sense of the word. Education based on the notion that we are teaching far more than content and curriculum.  “Education” as Omid Safi describes as “a meditation on what it means to be human, on knowledge of the self, and our connection to the human community and the natural cosmos.”

I don’t mean to sound self-centered or overly humanistic on this day of celebrating great sacrifice transformed into the greatest gift.

I only mean to focus my mind and heart on a sustainable way to breathe, as I pour out my life for the sake of children.  Let’s call it soul work.

If you are interested in joining The Builder and me for a facilitated nest-building retreat in Kelowna, including dreaming, please register now. Space is limited.

What is coming to life in you?  What little buds of soulfulness can you see in your daily life?  What is your dream?

For the sake of the children,

Karine
