“Let’s Go!” into a Brand New Year!

Christmas happened and we are facing the remaining months of winter:  long nights and coldness.  A new year dawned and we all wondered and questioned what it would hold.  The biggest snow fall in the last 3 generations happened in our community and we’re still shovelling out.

In the shadow of the manger, we are embarking on the new journey of 2015!

We’re not sure whether to feel depressed and forlorn or inspired by the possibilities of new heights and vistas in 2015.

Children are in that place too!

They’re trying to make sense of how long it will be until the next Christmas, and they know it will be a “long” time. They’re still learning how to make a new year’s resolution, never mind how to break it.  They know that sleeping in and playing in the snow was awesome, but now it is back to reality.

They know they are on a journey.

Children know there were rough patches in December.  They know they fought with their best friend or felt jealous of a classmate…and sometimes math sucks!  Children know they didn’t get all they dreamt about for Christmas and quite possibly Santa isn’t real. Also, they know that children in other places are suffering and the world can be cruel.

Children know the journey can be challenging.

As little pilgrims, they are really grateful to know that a Creator God is going to link arms with them and walk step-by-step with them along the way!

““Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9”

Maybe the shepherds of the Christmas story knew?!  Maybe they knew they didn’t have to be afraid!  The shepherds feeding their flocks by night had angels appear and send them on a new year’s journey.

Their response was remarkable…

Earth-shattering…

Hungry for an adventure…

They said, “Let’s Go!”

““When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let’s go…’” Luke 2:15”

Faith is a place of worthiness and confidence. I do NOT have to be afraid!  I can embark on a new journey with a sense of adventure and calling!

It is the linking arms…  It is the going together…  It is the promise of faith…

That’s what makes a child feel confident to say “Let’s Go!”

Wishing you a remarkable 2015,

Karine
